Shmaltz Brewing Co., Saratoga Springs, New York, USA

  • 5.5% Alcohol content
  • Coney Island Lager is a Vienna style lager, named for the region it was originally developed. They are generally characterized by light to medium body, with malty aromas. Oktoberfest and Marzen beers are more often than not Vienna style lagers.
  • Made with 8 different hop varieties and 4 malts.
  • Beer pours to virtually no head. There is only a slight foam around the rim of the glass.
  • Colour is that of dried apricot, almost orange with medium carbonation.
  • Aroma is of toasted nut and rich toffee.
  • At first the flavour is very rich and malty, yet crisp, but finishes with a grassy hoppyness. I find this lager to be very well balanced.
  • A slight bitterness lingers in the mouth, but is not unpleasant.
  • Over all this is a fantastic lager….not just another pretty bottle.
